The theatre of Apollonia has not yet been excavated.
The cavea is embedded in a 28 metre diameter hollow. There are 8 rows of seats visible.

The originally Lycian city of Apollonia (the Lycian name was lost) was connected from time immemorial with the nearby port city of Aperlai, but had to subordinate itself to it in Hellenistic times and surrender parts of its territory. It only seems to have regained its importance in the Roman Empire. This is also supported by the fact that during this time Apollonia was the site of large imperial buildings such as the theatre, the three-room spa and a monumental heroon.

Nevertheless, from the 3rd century B.C., Aperlai, in the Lycian League, took the lead in the newly founded Sympolitie, a union of the cities of Apollonia, Simena, Isinda and Aperlai, a union of two or more originally separate places into a common polis.

On the hilltop of the settlement hill a castle was already built at the time of the first settlement, where even in Byzantine times extensions and improvements were made.
In a southerly direction below the castle you can see former residential buildings, while the representative buildings from the imperial period were erected north of the castle.
