The temple of Lucius Aelius Caesar is in quite good condition, which can be explained by the integration of the building into a Byzantine basilica.
The temple is very narrow with a width of only 9.9 meters. Either this was due to a lack of space at this place, or it was due to lack of financial possibilities of the city, or the sponsors.

Lucius Aelius Caesar (* January 13 at 103; † January 1, 138), born as Lucius Ceionius Commodus, was adopted by Emperor Hadrian (76-138) as his successor, but died before him.
Aelius Caesar was the father of Emperor Lucius Verus. Aelius was the son of Lucius Ceionius Commodus, who was 106 consul. He was adopted by the aging Hadrian, who had no biological son, in the sense of the adoptive emperorship founded by Nerva, and appointed as heir to the throne, although he had no military experience, but was civilian shaped senator.
After the adoption in 136 he took the name Lucius Aelius Caesar. Aelius had strong political connections, 136 and 137 he occupied the consulate. He was handsome, but of poor health. His taste was luxurious and extravagant, his lifestyle is said to have been frivolous, like that of his son. Hadrian's choice seems to have been a mistake. Some scholars suspect that Aelius was Hadrian's illegitimate son, for which there is no evidence. Aelius himself never became emperor, he died shortly before Hadrian, not even 40 years old, after a haemorrhage. He received his last resting place in the Mausoleum Hadriani.
